At 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, Nas is joining the Web sites ColorOfChange.org and MoveOn.org to deliver a petition with more than 620,000 signatures demanding that the network end what the organizations call a “pattern of racist attacks against black Americans including presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.”
“Fox poisons the country with racist propaganda and tries to call it news,” Nas said in a statement. A spokesperson for Fox News could not be reached for comment at press time. - MTV News

If you haven't already heard about The City Council controversial plan to rezone dozens of blocks in the world famous 125th Street district in Harlem, this is probably something you should know. On Wednesday, April 30, 2008, there was a 42-2 vote to allow the rezoning of dozens of Harlem blocks. According to ABC news, "the new plan allows for condominiums, more performing arts space and a 21-story office tower near Harlem's Metro North station that will possibly include Major League Baseball and its new television network as a tenant." Although this may sound good, all it really does is prove that gentrification is happening all over New York. This new plan closes small businesses, and moves hundreds of residents out of their homes so that big businesses can move in, and unaffordable apartments can be built. Councilman Charles Barron (one of the two that voted against the plan) said, "The development should be from the bottom up, from the people up, not from the top down, from rich white developers and the city planning commission.Ten to 12 years from now, they will see that the housing will not be affordable. This will be the wholesale sellout of Harlem from river to river."As a result of Barrons statement Mayor Bloomberg said, "the council's approval will "strengthen" the area's business district and "bolster" arts, entertainment and retail there. The rezoning also will create more than 7,000 jobs." I'm not surprised that Bloomberg would say such foolishness, he is one of the wealthiest people in the world. He doesn't understand the our struggle, and to kick people out of their homes is just absurd.Events similar to this one is already happening in the Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, and Park Slope sections of Brooklyn, because of the Nets Stadium. If this new plan goes in to affect it will forever change Harlem's culture, and it would also allow The City Council to move in to any New York City block and kick anyone. REally??/ What the fuck? what the fuck does a cop need to fucking do around hear to fucking get blamed for something, ANYTHING???? or is it that as long as you live out of certain zip codes, it's a free for all for them to get gully on you??
For real this is not sitting well with me, I had cops on every corner of my neighborhood afraid that a riot would ensue.
